Summer Glacier Skiing on the Grande Motte
Tignes is the world capital of summer skiing with 16 lifts, a vertical drop of some 750m, and over 20kms (130 hectares) of pistes. The summer ski area starts at 2,800m and continues to the top of the Grande Motte at 3,550m. Over the summer season, which runs from mid-June to the end of August, many of the world's ski teams come to Tignes to train for the coming season. There is a superb snowpark with 2 half pipes, hips quarters, boardercross, rails and jumps plus music and barbeque.
Ski Schools
There are numerous ski schools which operate in the summer - two of the best are the ESF and Evolution2. Both offer a full range of lessons with English speaking instructors - whether you are looking for group tuition or a private lesson to sort out your bumps technique.

Ski & Board Hire
We recommend that equipment is hired from Tignes Val Claret. There are a number of ski hire shops open for summer rental. Prices are similar to winter and range from €100 to €150 for a week. Our staff can help arrange this in resort on arrival.
